New Principal Operating Sites | Australian Red Cross Blood Service

Under two separate engagements, Capital Insight was appointed by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service to prepare business cases for the new operations centre's in Sydney and Melbourne.  The two new facilities will process, test and distribute nearly 60% of the total Australian volume of blood and related products.

The business cases were submitted to the National Blood Authority (NBA) which are responsible for the coordination of the national blood sector activity on behalf of the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments.  To avoid unnecessary duplication, Capital Insight developed business cases that met the approval requirements of the NBA and multiple jurisdictions.

Working within challenging timeframes, Capital Insight worked with the ARCBS and its consultants to determine and address issues such as:

  • justification of the new facilities and their size requirements

  • locality, ownership and funding options

  • commercial considerations to reflect ARCBS' contracted requirements to the NBA.
