Green Square Town Centre | Landcom

The Green Square Urban Renewal Project is located between the Sydney Central Business District and the Sydney International (Kingsford Smith) Airport and Port Botany.  It is considered to be the largest urban renewal project  in Australia, covering 278 hectares. The vision is to transform Green Square into an attractive, vibrant and sustainable urban place.

The project is large, its development costs will be high but employment and residential opportunities arising out of the development will be particularly significant. Much of the success of the overall urban renewal project depends on the inherent feasibility assumptions made and the quality of the investigative works carried out.

While the Local Environment Plan and Development Control Plan provided certainty about some aspects of the project, there are some changes from the initial concepts to the current planning framework.  Landcom deemed it appropriate to validate and confirm the infrastructure concept, and the approach upon which it is based, prior to proceeding to the detailed design and documentation stages.

Capital Insight carried out a verification review to:

  • provide a level of comfort to current project stakeholders that the Town Centre project is implementable

  • appropriately brief the City of Sydney as new owner

  • assist in better defining future consultancy scopes of work.
