Concord Repatriation General Hospital | Health Infrastructure and Sydney South West AHS The $65 million refurbishment and additions to the Main Building Complex at Concord Repatriation General Hospital represented a major component of the South Sydney West Area Health Services $390 million Resource Transition Program, for which Capital Insight was Program Director, Project Director and Project Manager. Originally built as a military hospital in 1941, the Sulman Award winning multi-block presented a significant design and planning challenge to transform it into a modern functional facility, collocating clinical and ambulatory services to form the heart of the campus. The project comprised a seven storey concave infill between two wings of the 'T' shaped multi-block to provide new inpatient accommodation, the ICU and HDU. A five storey infill was also constructed between the multi-block and surgical and diagnostic block, above the constantly operational emergency department. This infill provides ambulatory care facilities including endoscopy and day surgery. Also incorporated in the project is the state-of-the-art Statewide Severe Burns Service. Other works completed by Capital Insight on the Concord campus include a centralised warehouse facility, a General Geriatric and Rehabilitation Medicine precinct, the ANZAC Research Institute, a new MRI unit, a new childcare centre, restoration works at the heritage listed Thomas Walker Convalescent Hospital and the Mental Health Precinct. |
