School of Information Technology | The University of Sydney Capital Insight was Project Director and Project Manager for the University of Sydney School of Information Technology project, as part of the overall Campus 2010+ Building for the Future Program, for which Capital Insight was also Project Director and Project Manager. This $49 million redevelopment provides a new presence for the University on the highly visible Cleveland Street site. The facility comprises a 5 level complex with a gross floor area of approximately 9,000 square metres, with specialised teaching and research laboratories to house postgraduate programs and key research centres. The building features energy saving initiatives to achieve an energy efficiency rating of 4.5 ABGR. This includes an integrated chilled beam air conditioning system using exposed and suspended chilled beams that combine sprinklers, lighting, cooling and air distribution in one element. A 120 metre long and 9 metre high environmental screen addresses traffic noise and heat load from the northern Cleveland Street frontage, and contributes to the building’s aesthetic appeal. The glass and steel screen also hosts signage for the new billboard for the adjacent Seymour Centre. |
