Australian Classics Centre | The University of Sydney

Capital Insight was Project Manager for the refurbishment of the Madsen Building, as part of the Campus 2010+ Building for the Future Program, which included the refurbishment of level 4 to accommodate the Australian Classics Centre.

The refurbishment of the Madsen Building supported the University's strategic direction by providing a research centre that allows for collaborative research and sharing of facilities in the areas of archaeology and ancient studies and enabled the vacated offices to be used for other departments.

The specialist research centre of international standard, collocated various institutes, foundations and departments, including:

  • Australian Archaeological Institute of Athens (AAIA) from the Old Teachers College

  • Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation (NEAF) from the Transient Building

  • Matriarch Editor and staff responsible for the publication of archaeological journals

  • a central library for the Department of Archaeology to house its collections.
